Minahasa people think that the legend that they are descendants of
Toar and Lumimuut. The memories of that time long ago, the Waruga,
stonegraves in Sawangan Airmadidi and Watu Pinabetengan in Tompaso. 

   
The word Minahasa which means Association of traditional tribes was
derived from the word or ESA, so that the country was named Minahasa.

Located at the foot of the Dua Saudara Mountain, the area
consists of rolling hills and valleys with a variety of hardwood trees
and unusual plants.
The
animal world is quite varied, and you can often view Tarsius Spectrum
(world's smallest primates), black tailless monkeys, Maleo birds, wild
pigs and kuskus (marsupials family). Batu Angus Tangkoko reserve
provides a suitable protective clothing environment help prevent these
animals from extinction ever. Tangkoko is located in the northern area
of Bitung, and covers an area of 3196 hectares and takes about 1.5 -2.5
hours after the reach of Manado and Bitung, respectively. Please note
that the road to Tangkoko is quite difficult and visitors are advised
to visit with a local tour operators to ensure safe navigation and to
the benefits of an experienced guide, in the detection of wild animals.
Losmen (one board) are available for overnight stays.

Bunaken is one of Indonesia's best-known dive sites, and it attracts

volcano, Siladen, Mount Hagen, Nain and Nain Kecil.

The park is famous for the clarity of its waters (35m visibility is in
the dry season in summer), the wealth of corals and fish, and for the
steep wall at some locations. Bunaken Timur, right off the east coast

Lembeh Strait is a 12 km. long stretch of water separating Lembeh
island and the mainland. Bitung is actually the point midway along the
banks of the Lembeh Strait.
This pristine section of water in North Sulawesi is home to many unique
marine animals including the pygmy seahorse, Mimic Octopus, ghost
pipefish, and other larger species. It is a fantastic dive site for
underwater photographers and the diversity of the smaller creatures
responsible for many memorable photo opportunities. 
 
    There are several undeveloped beaches on the coast of Lembeh Strait, which is perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
